Below are the questions Boca Raton customers ask us most, answered plainly. If yours is not here, call (888) 711-4778 or email [email protected] and a real person will walk you through it.
How do you price a local move in Boca Raton?
Two ways, and we will tell you which fits before you book. Most in-town moves run hourly: $165 an hour for a two-mover crew with a truck, blankets, dollies, and tools, or $225 an hour if you need a three-mover crew. For predictable jobs we also quote flat-rate bands, roughly $440 to $640 for a studio, $680 to $1,010 for a one-bedroom, $1,140 to $1,700 for two bedrooms, $1,920 to $2,820 for three, and $2,740 to $4,060 for a four-bedroom house. We talk through your specifics before anything is locked.
What is the $150 deposit for, and do I lose it?
The $150 holds your date on our calendar so the crew is yours and not promised to someone else. You do not lose it on the move; it comes straight off your final total. If you need to reschedule with reasonable notice we move the deposit to the new date. It is there to protect your slot, not to nickel-and-dime you.
Do I get a written estimate before the move?
Yes, always, and it is not optional on our end. Florida law requires a written estimate and contract before a mover loads your home, and we follow it. You will have the price, the scope, and the terms in writing before a box leaves the house. For long-distance moves the quote is binding, so the number you sign is the number you pay.
Are you actually licensed in Florida, and under what?
We register as an intrastate mover with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, the FDACS, and hold a Florida IM# for moves inside the state. For moves that cross a state line we carry US DOT and MC authority. We keep all of it current. If you ever want to verify a number before booking, ask and we will hand it to you.
How much is my stuff insured for?
We carry up to $1,000,000 in cargo coverage on every shipment. The standard included protection is released-value at $0.60 per pound per item, which Florida sets as the baseline. If you would rather have full-value protection, where a damaged item is repaired, replaced, or paid out at its actual value, we offer that as an upgrade. We will explain the difference before you choose.
Can you move a piano or a gun safe?
Yes. Specialty pieces like upright and baby grand pianos, heavy safes, and oversized art are handled by our own movers with the proper boards, straps, and padding, starting around $385 depending on the piece and the access. Tell us the make, the weight if you know it, and how many flights or how tight the doorway is, and we will price it honestly.
Which areas around Boca do you actually serve?
All of Boca Raton, from Downtown and Mizner Park to West Boca, Boca Pointe, and the Town Center area, plus the neighboring towns we run daily: Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Highland Beach, Deerfield Beach, Pompano Beach, Lighthouse Point, Coral Springs, Parkland, Coconut Creek, Wellington, Lake Worth, Greenacres, Royal Palm Beach, and up to Jupiter. If you are in Palm Beach or north Broward, we almost certainly cover you.
On a long haul, do the same movers ride it the entire way?
Yes. The movers who pack and load your home in Boca are the movers who drive the route and unload at your new place. We do not transfer your shipment onto another company's truck halfway there, and we do not hand the job to a broker. One crew, one truck, start of haul to delivery, with a binding written price starting at $2,540.
Do you pack, or just move?
Both, your call. We can do a full pack where we box the whole house, a partial pack for just the kitchen, china, and breakables, or pure transport if you have everything boxed yourself. We bring the materials, label by room, and the same crew unpacks the priority items at the other end if you want. Tell us how much you want to handle and how much you want us to.
Do you offer storage if my dates do not line up?
When a closing slips or a building will not let you in until a certain day, which happens constantly with Boca condos, we can arrange short-term storage so your belongings are not sitting on a truck in the heat. We will quote it with the move so you see the full picture. Just flag the gap when you call and we will plan around it.
Need to cancel or shift your date - what happens?
Life happens, and South Florida closings slip all the time. Give us reasonable notice and we will reschedule and carry your $150 deposit to the new date at no penalty. A last-minute cancellation, where we have already committed the crew and turned down other work, is the one case where the deposit may not transfer, and we will always tell you exactly where you stand before that point.
My condo association wants a COI and a reserved freight elevator. Can you handle that?
Yes, and this is one of the things we do best. Most Boca high-rises and gated communities require a Certificate of Insurance naming the association, a reserved freight-elevator window, elevator pads, and approved move-in days and hours. Send us your building's requirements and we will issue the COI, book the elevator slot, pad the cab, and schedule inside your association's rules so nobody turns the crew away at the gatehouse.
Can you still move me during hurricane season?
We move all summer, June through November included. What we do differently is watch the tropics. If a system is spinning up near your date, we build flexibility into the schedule and stay in touch so we are loading in a safe window, not racing a storm. We also start early most summer mornings to beat the heat, the humidity, and the near-daily afternoon thunderstorms.
Do you actually move us, or just book the job out?
A moving company, full stop. Movers That Care is a fully licensed and insured local moving company in Boca Raton, FL, with our own trucks and uniformed crews, a Florida IM# (FDACS) registration plus US DOT and MC on file. Our own crew loads it and our own driver takes it. We do not match you with carriers, broker your move, or hand it off to whoever bids lowest.
